Clubs--We Got 'Em

Reading is a solitary occupation. To extend the pleasure and interest of reading, try one of our clubs. They don't all have meetings, and none of them have secret handshakes. But they do make reading a more social experience.
  • "Virtual Vacation" is our Summer Reading Club for grownups. Just read--in the backyard, at the beach, on the patio--and for each book (print or audio) you have read, enter your name in the weekly drawing for a fabulous gift certificate! There is also a Grand Prize: a numbered Dan Campanelli print, beautifully framed by The Frame Shop at Phillipsburg Hardware.
  • The Book Discussion Group meets the fourth Wednesday evening of each month. The only requirement is to have read the book. Find the list under the "Reading Room" link at www.pburglib.org If you see one that looks interesting, you are invited to read and discuss. There is also a Film Discussion Group, starting with George Clooney's film about Edward R. Murrow on Wednesday evening July 19th.
  • "Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales" has reading games, crafts and activities designed to give kids something to read and talk about, and keep them reading happily all summer. There are levels for two-year-olds to 6th graders. Prizes? Of course! Pick up a calendar at the Children's Desk.
  • "Creature Feature" is designed by teens, for teens. There are activities, movies, food, and contests. Hey, you have to read from your school's summer list anyway, might as well meet other teens, have fun, and win prizes. Pick up a calendar at the Teen Spot Desk.
