Downloadable Audio Books

Put away your credit card, and pull out your library card. On Wednesday July 5, AUDIO BOOKS will be available for FREE download from our library website at www.pburglib.org ! Full-length, unabridged books that you can play on your PC or rip to a CD, or zap to your pocket-sized MP3 Player. (Sorry, downloads are not available for Apple iPod at this time.) You will need the barcode number on the back of your library card, as well as your PIN.

To get started, just click on the "Listen NJNW" icon. Once there, you can actually "check out" your book for 14 days. There is no need to "return" it, since the file will stop working when time runs out. No late fees, and you're free to simply delete the file.

Need a library card? It's fast and easy. Our location and hours are on our front page. Bring ID with your current name and street address. Be sure to choose a PIN. Have a card, but need a PIN? Stop by, present your card, and choose one. The card is free to all residents of Town of Phillipsburg, as well as Greenwich, Lopatcong, Pohatcong, and all other townships in Warren County. It is also free to students at Phillipsburg High School, and to teachers and librarians who work in Phillipsburg. Others may purchase a library card by the year or by the quarter.

Happy 4th of July--this year the 5th is a red-letter day too!

Clubs--We Got 'Em

Reading is a solitary occupation. To extend the pleasure and interest of reading, try one of our clubs. They don't all have meetings, and none of them have secret handshakes. But they do make reading a more social experience.
  • "Virtual Vacation" is our Summer Reading Club for grownups. Just read--in the backyard, at the beach, on the patio--and for each book (print or audio) you have read, enter your name in the weekly drawing for a fabulous gift certificate! There is also a Grand Prize: a numbered Dan Campanelli print, beautifully framed by The Frame Shop at Phillipsburg Hardware.
  • The Book Discussion Group meets the fourth Wednesday evening of each month. The only requirement is to have read the book. Find the list under the "Reading Room" link at www.pburglib.org If you see one that looks interesting, you are invited to read and discuss. There is also a Film Discussion Group, starting with George Clooney's film about Edward R. Murrow on Wednesday evening July 19th.
  • "Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales" has reading games, crafts and activities designed to give kids something to read and talk about, and keep them reading happily all summer. There are levels for two-year-olds to 6th graders. Prizes? Of course! Pick up a calendar at the Children's Desk.
  • "Creature Feature" is designed by teens, for teens. There are activities, movies, food, and contests. Hey, you have to read from your school's summer list anyway, might as well meet other teens, have fun, and win prizes. Pick up a calendar at the Teen Spot Desk.

Overdrive is going Live--on July 5

Audio Books will be available for download from our library website at www.pburglib.org
  • Where? Look for the "Listen NJNW" icon
  • How? Watch for How-To and FAQ on the website as well as here on Pburg Free, your library blog
  • Why? Because you let us know that you want to put an audio book on your PC and listen to it, or rip it to a CD for the car, or zap it to your pocket-sized MP3 player.
  • What happens next? You will need the barcode number on your library card to "check out" your audio book--free!
  • Oh, yeah? What if I bring it back late? Never happen. When your time is up, the audio book disappears from your PC and flies straight home to us, to be checked out again.
